About Noobxuan

Hi, I'm Ruey Xuan, the creator of Noobxuan. Noobxuan is a blog made to showcase my learning journey in various fields including Urbanism/Urban Science, Data Analytics, Design(UI/UX), Social Media and more. I occasionally post personal musings on philosophy and other worldly affairs, as well as updates on life.

My Story

Noobxuan began as a way to marry my mini-interests together (Data, Design and Writing). As someone who is often interested in quirks and segues, I found myself not having much of an outlet to share my thoughts and learnings, as well as needing an avenue to document my learnings.

At the time of writing this (Apr 2025), I am working at a less than optimal role at a dying organisation, in a field not closely related to my academic training (Psychology and Linguistics). I find solace in being able to still earn a living wage and at the same time having this website as a means to develop my idiosyncrasies and other worldly skills.

Update: Dec 2025 - I quit my job and am now freelancing while applying for my Master's in Urban Science at a local university. More articles on the way.

Origin of the Name

The name of this website, Noobxuan, is a compound comprised of the words "noob" and "xuan". Noob refers to "newbie", someone who is inexperienced and new, while "Xuan" is a part of my first name (represented by Chinese character “轩” ) which means "high/lofty" (ironic). This neatly summarises the idea behind this blog - I am a noob who is learning and sharing as I learn.
