Portfolio Case Study: Whiskies and Weebs

Whiskey & Weebs is a podcast talk show focused on discussing whisky (the alcoholic beverage) and anime, run by Nakama Spirits. I worked with their team across their production/content workflow, primarily handling video editing (for longform) and short-form content.

Before reaching out to me, their content looked something like this:

After, we managed to raise the quality of their podcast setup marginally:

And even made a mini-documentary tour of Distillius:

Each longform video was edited down to shorts, which we used as top-of-funnel marketing to push more awareness for the channel.

Across the span of my time with them, I produced 12 longform podcast episodes (between 1-2 hours per video), and 50+ short form video reels.

Learning points:

  1. Long-form content contains substantially more repurposing potential than most creators exploit.
  2. Short-form isn't simply "cutting out a funny moment. Pacing and context determine whether the clip works. Good storytelling can also make for a good short.
  3. A repeatable content pipeline matters as much as individual editing quality. Having a larger volume of above average content outperforms a small volume of excellent content.

Have a podcast, YouTube channel or business with more content than you have time to edit?

I help turn long-form content into consistent short-form content, thumbnails and publishable assets.
